Resumen

Self-care fosters health, well-being, and happiness while reducing stress through regular practices. The study aimed to improve the “Multidimensional Self-Care Scale” for thorough psychometric assessment. 209 university students from the southeast and northeast of Mexico, representing diverse programs, participated, with 68.9% female and 31.1% male, averaging 21.01 years (SD= 4.46). Exploratory factor analysis revealed five self-care dimensions (physical, psychological, spiritual, relational, emotional), explaining 61.35% of variance. Covariance analysis confirmed validity with satisfactory fit indices. Internal consistency for both total score subscales was adequate (between .77 and .94). Correlations with personal variables underscored the scale’s validity and reliability.
